Supporting our essential workers.

We are in this together

MD COVIDsitters is committed to supporting local healthcare and other essential workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis. Our team of volunteers are medical students and other aspiring health professional students who are ready and willing to support their fellow healthcare professionals by offering in-home and online services free of charge.

We are ready to support all essential workers including police officers, firefighters, EMTs, pharmacists, grocery store employees, restaurant employees, and healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, hospital cleaning crews, cafeteria workers, administrative staff, lab techs, OTs, RTs, paramedics, and more.

COVID connections

It's a difficult time for everyone and during these unprecedented times, it's important to be able to stay in touch with one another. We are so excited to match you, your children, or an elderly member with a companion, where you can discuss school life, personal life, work life, etc. In the end of it all, we hope you make a lifelong friend!

If the help you are in need of is not listed, please reach out and let us know how we may be of assistance by emailing volunteercoordinator@mdcovidsitters.org.

100% Volunteers

This initiative is 100% volunteer-led and not affiliated with any university or educational Institution. Our COVIDsitters are local medical students and other aspiring health professionals that have offered their time and skills to support their community while regular clinical duties are suspended.

How we protect you and your family.

Safety and reducing the spread of COVID-19 is important to us. To minimize risk of spreading the virus, we pair each volunteer with one family. If at any point you experience symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, shortness of breath, etc.) or if you contract COVID-19, please notify your volunteer as soon as possible and send us an email to our Family Coordinator. For more information visit our FAQ.

How it works

Step 1

Fill out the Request Help form and let us know what support you need and when. You will receive a confirmation message letting you know that our team has received your request and will review it ASAP!

Step 2

Our team will match you with a volunteer or volunteer pod (group of 3-5 students) from our database depending on your level of need. See our FAQ for Healthcare Workers section for more information about the program.

Step 3

You’ve been matched! You will receive an email from your volunteer coordinator to connect you with your matched volunteer or volunteer pod. Schedule what day and time to start receiving help!
