Support
This is an opportunity to show the very healthcare providers you aspire to become the quality service you will one day provide your patients.
Our team assigns you to a personal volunteer coordinator to provide you with the resources you need to serve your essential worker family. In addition to that, we provide resources to help with meals and transportation costs for all volunteers. Volunteers will also receive recognition in the form of a letter of recommendation and a volunteer hours certificate. Please track every shift using the linked form below. We care about your health and making sure you receive recognition for what you do!
Safety first
We want to take the right steps to ensure the safety of you and the family you serve! All hospital staff are working with COVID-19 patients in some capacity. By entering their homes to care for their children or pets, we want you to be aware that there are risks.
Our team will work to keep our volunteers informed of any emerging threats or information that could affect our work. However, we cannot be held responsible for any consequences as a result of voluntary work. Please note the choice to volunteer with healthcare workers and their families is your own.
Your safety and wellbeing is important to us. If you are uncomfortable with a certain request or are unable to meet these commitments, you are under no obligation to accept an assignment. Please let us know if you have any concerns by contacting your volunteer coordinator.
Please be aware that MD COVIDsitters asks volunteers to commit to social distancing, wearing a mask, and stringent hygiene standards outside of your volunteering commitments.
Volunteer Criteria
Student volunteers must meet the following minimum requirements for childcare services:
Currently a university graduate, undergraduate or medical, dental, or pharmacy school student, or any other professional health school student (must provide proof of valid student ID).
High school students are determined on a case-by-case basis, but must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check for childcare services only.
Up-to-date on vaccinations (including most recent flu)
CPR/BLS certification is a plus, but not necessary!
If any of the following applies to you, we ask that you do not apply to volunteer:
You are in frequent contact with the elderly or at-risk populations
You have experienced COVID-19 symptoms (fever, shortness of breath, coughing, etc.)
You have existing medical conditions that place you in an at-risk category (asthma, diabetes, etc.)
